For all you fans of "The Sisters" out there- I am also going to start the Daily Five in my classroom as well as CAFE. I took a class last year on the D5 and feel pretty comfortable with it since I used parts of it in first grade but CAFE will be all new to me. I just finished reading the book- which I HIGHLY recommend. It is a quick read and completely applicable to any classroom! I love how it is part of D5 and doesn't require a whole lot of extra prep time (because we know how much of that we don't have). I am excited to go through the disc that came with the book and start using all of the great ideas! I plan to use both in my classroom this year but I have some questions- so feel free to help me out!
How could you lay out your reading block when working around a basal program and D5?
In third grade- how many rotations would you do a day? (From D5) I plan on doing 4 with the Read to Self being later in the day but I'd like to know what other people do too.
From CAFE- is the "Pensieve" hard to keep up with? Any alternative ideas?
I have some ideas brewing with how I want to set this up in my classroom so I will keep posting!
